Census Event with Congresswoman Maloney

 On February 10th, 2019 New York Counts 2020 members joined U.S. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, City Council Member Rivera, and State Assembly Member Epstein at the East Temple in Manhattan for a community forum around the upcoming decennial Census.


Advocacy co-chair Jorge Vasquez from Latino Justice (PRLDEF) presented on NY Counts 2020 and how attendees can get involved with NY Counts 2020, community engagement and the importance of coalition building; the critical role CBO's should play; and the need for local and state officials to allocate sufficient funding for  CBO's to lead in ensuring a complete count. Also present was NY Counts 2020 member Mae Lee of Chinese Progressive Association who presented on having attendees take an online survey and the importance of reaching non English proficient communities.
