New York Counts 2020 Releases Statement in Opposition to Alabama's Attempt to Exclude Undocumented Immigrants

On June 7th, 2018, New York Counts 2020 released a statement opposing a lawsuit brought against the Census Bureau by Representative Mo Brooks's of Alabama. The lawsuit aims to discontinue the practice of counting all individual residing in the United States, opposing the practice of counting immigrants without U.S. legal status.

In addition, New York Counts 2020 stands in strong opposition to Iowa Representative Steve King's proposed bill to document immigrant's citizenship status in the 2020 Census.

Both are attempts to thwart a fair and accurate count of all living residents of the United States. They may potentially reduce vital funds for all New Yorkers where immigrants live and endager the constitutionally established right to political representation.
